Philippine Fiesta
We Filipinos love to have fun. Different provinces celebrate their own Fiesta (feasts) every month. Because the religion in the Philippines is predominantly Catholic, most fiestas are celebrated to give thanks to the towns' patron saints. There are lots of parades with colorful costumes, lots of singing and dancing...and the best thing about it??? LOADS OF FOOD!!!! Here are some of them. Enjoy!^_^
CARABAO FESTIVAL
(Pulilan, Bulacan) - Celebrated every May 15, feast day of San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of farmers. Carabaos are dressed and taken to the church where the priest would bless them. After that, they will be parade in the streets.
PAHIYAS FESTIVAL
(Lucban, Quezon) - Also celebrated on May 15, people decorate their homes with kiping (they are colorful thin, leaf shaped decors made from rice) and vegetables. This is a thanksgiving celebration for a bountiful harvest.
KAAMULAN
(Malaybalay, Bukidnon) - this celebration started when the tribes decided to settle territorial fights in Northern Mindanao. Now this is done every year as a social gathering for the tribes.
PANAGBENGA
(Baguio City) - flower festival held every February.
